Panel Builder
The Panel Builder is responsible for the physical assembly and wiring of industrial control panels. They will build panels to print including laying out and physically mounting devices to back panels, wiring per print and testing the panel to ensure that it is built according to plan.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Wire and build to order electrical control panels, junction boxes and install components, units, subassemblies, wiring, or assembly casings.
- Read and interpret schematic drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work orders, bills of material, handwritten notes, or verbal instructions to determine materials requirements or assembly instructions.
- Fabricate or form parts and structures according to specifications, using drills, calipers, cutters, or saws.
- Utilize hand tools such as wire strippers, crimpers, wrenches, screwdrivers, and plies.
- Complete point to point wiring and install a wide variety of electronic components including PLC’s, relays, lights, switches, etc.
- Adjust, repair, or replace electrical or electronic component parts to correct defects and to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Use good judgement when dimensions or tolerances seem inconsistent or unworkable. Confer with supervisors or engineers to plan, review, or clarify work activities or to resolve assembly/production problems.
- Work with minimal supervision once work assignments are given and explained. Ask questions to obtain sufficient instruction to perform assigned tasks.
- Mark up drawings and bills of material to document the “as built” final product.
- Perform necessary hand operation such as deburring, grinding, and sawing.
- Operate hand pallet jacks to move material within plant.
- Install finished assemblies or subassemblies in cases and cabinets.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
- Work closely with the Assembly Lead to improve and correct assembly times for proper manufacturing engineering documentation.
- Communicate any changes on procedure or assembly structure to engineering in order to ensure complete and correct engineering documentation.
- Other tasks as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Knowledge of machine tool electrical panels
- Minimum of one to two years of electrical wiring experience required.
- Panel wiring and building experience required.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics required.
- Mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, communication skills, and basic math skills required.
- Knowledge of how to use basic tools such as screwdrivers, wire strippers, wrenches, etc.
- Working knowledge: sufficient familiarity with the subject to know basic principles and terminology and to understand and solve simple problems.
- General knowledge: sufficient knowledge of a field to perform most work in normal situations. The work calls for comprehension of standard situations and includes knowledge of most of the significant aspects of the subject.
- Thorough knowledge: advanced knowledge of the subject matter. The work calls for sufficient comprehension of the subject area to solve unusual as well as common work problems, to be able to advise on technical matters, and to serve as a resource on the subject for others in the organization.
- Comprehensive knowledge: requires complete mastery and understanding of the subject. This term should be used sparingly and only for unusually exacting or responsible positions required to originate hypotheses, concepts, or approaches.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged work on the production floor, extended time spend standing, squatting, kneeling, etc.
- Must have physical and mechanical skills to strip, crimp and terminate wires.
- Must be able to lift to 50 pounds.
- Ability to distinguish color is necessary.
- Weekends as needed.
