Most public transit districts wash their entire bus fleet on a daily basis. The traditional way to wash transit buses has been to use 2-brush or 4-brush wrap-around systems where brushes travel both the front and the back of the bus.

Transit bus wash designs have changed only marginally in the last 25 years. InterClean has three different approaches to washing transit bus fleets: totally touchless drive through, soft cloth side brush with touchless front and rear wash, or the advanced wrap-around bus wash.

Milwaukee County Transit was the first major public transit company to select maintenance free, touchless bus washing for all of their garages.  The use of touchless bus washing systems at transit garages totally eliminates physical damage and any paint finish wear to the buses.

For those transit fleets who have installed bicycle racks on the front and are experiencing damage caused by rotating brushes, the alternative is to use the brushes only for side cleaning and wash the front and back with touchless systems.
